Organizational Tips
This article addresses some good ways to organize your computer and computer related items to best help yourself and people who come to help.
We know that while you want things done efficiently and quickly as possible, you also must have things done right. We want that too. The following should help both of us get to that point with mutual benefits.
First off, having all of the things that you use stored in one central place is the best way to start. When you get a new computer or device, make sure to put all of the included software in to a small box or a CD holder and any of the wrappings or CD packets in there as well. Some of the CD keys that are needed are often on the outside wrappers or stickers on the CD packet. Having easy access to these items will greatly assist when repairing or diagnosing any issues. Losing the keys that come with your software often means that it will need to be repurchased which usually comes at significant cost.
As well, make sure to keep different sets for each computer in different locations because most keys and CDs are for a specific PC and can't be interchanged.
To clean up wires coming out of your computer, the best option is to use velcro wire ties as opposed to the zip ties. Often times we need to undo wiring to remove or test something and can't do that without having to cut all of the ties. Velcro makes it much easier to loosen things and remove cables without having to redo the whole thing.
