Wireless Insecurity

Wireless networks are inherently insecure.

Wireless networks are inherently insecure. The point of wireless access to your network or the internet is to give you freedom to roam about and to be connected anywhere. And therein lies the downfall. Your data and network connections are being broadcasted throughout the airwaves. While this might not mean much to you, it probably means a lot to the guy down the street with a high powered antenna and laptop snagging your data.

Think that's a far fetched reality with no real possibility? Click the link for Wigle to see just how many wireless networks have been logged.  As you can see, both wireless networking AND wireless network loggers (often referred to as Stumblers or Wardrivers) are here in our area. So, what can you do to prevent any unauthorized access? Read our article on wireless security and advanced wireless security for more.
