When we were contracted by Brockmann Industries to diagnose some network issues we saw a good amount of equipment but no structure or centralization. With a central repository of files that needed secured access enabled, we decided to upgrade to an Active Direcotry infrastructure and apply security levels to each user. This allowed us to give access to certain folders and deny access to other with simple groups.
This migration took place over a slow day when the users could be off of their computers. We added all of the computers to the new network and secured properly. Now, any changes that needed to be made to security would be much easier than in the past, where multiple changes in multiple spots needed to be made.

To be able to have a more centralized email system and get rid of the costly monthly service fees involved with their existing email accounts, we discussed a migration plan to get their own internal email system that can be remotely accessed and integrated in to Outlook. Over a weekend we were able to get Exchange 2003 installed, MX records changed, and all users setup for email accounts. Users could now login to the remote email system via a web browser, VPN, or locally with Outlook.
